Our Dream

We all long to be truly seen — and truly met — not for how well we dance, but for who we are.

So we built a family. One where you can share instead of show, where play opens doors that words can’t, and where care for each other runs as deep as the connection on the floor.

Here, the embrace holds room for intensity and for laughter, for closeness and, sometimes, for tears. Step by step, we wash a little dust from the soul — until what’s left is simply you, a little more free.

The Space We Envisage

Taboe is a place where dancers choose to share rather than to show. Here, diversity is a source of inspiration rather than irritation. It is a space where connection flourishes, within the dance and beyond, and where we look after one another and our environment.

It is a place where we embrace the intensity of the dance, while also finding joy in laughter and, at times, a shared tear. Here, we play together and learn from each other. We sometimes face the darker, more difficult sides of Tango, which helps us grow and, in time, shine more brightly.

Tango is our hidden language that washes the dust of life from our soul. It takes courage to show our true selves, but the reward is the quiet joy of being truly seen and becoming fully alive again. At heart, we are just a big Taboe family, dancing, laughing, and sharing together.

The Space We Create

We love creating a space where you can feel at ease, light-hearted, connected, authentic, and joyful. To make that happen, we carefully design the program with connection games, sharing groups, and fun surprises. We also include special milongas, meaningful rituals, and big gatherings to bring us all together – all while embracing a wide diversity of teaching and dancing styles.

At the center are our teachers and helpers. They are truly there for everyone – full of heart, inspiration, and joy. Together with you, the dancers, we spark a ripple effect that starts here at the camp and, hopefully, extends far out into the world.

We see it happening every time: we all leave feeling a little more free, happy, and expressive than when we arrived. We hear it often, and it means everything to us: “Because of this camp, I can truly enjoy tango again, and it feels that somehow something changed in my life.” 😊

The story behind the name: Taboe

In the 90s, the Dutch tango scene became more and more divided by strict ideas of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’. We started Taboe to challenge that mindset, with respect for each other. For us, diversity is a source of inspiration, not irritation. We believe there is no single right way to dance—only different but respectful ways to find joy together.
