Our Dream

We all long to be truly seen — and truly met — not for how well we dance, but for who we are.

So we built a family. One where you can share instead of show, where play opens doors that words can’t, and where care for each other runs as deep as the connection on the floor.

Here, the embrace holds room for intensity and for laughter, for closeness and, sometimes, for tears. Step by step, we wash a little dust from the soul — until what’s left is simply you, a little more free.

The Space We Envision

Taboe is a space where dancers choose to share rather than to show. Here, diversity inspires rather than divides. It is a place where connection flourishes—both on and off the dance floor—and where we take care of one another and our shared environment.

It is a place where we embrace the intensity of the dance while finding joy in laughter, play, and moments of shared emotion. Here, we learn from one another and welcome both the joyful and challenging aspects of tango—helping us grow together, both on and off the dance floor.

Tango is our hidden language that washes the dust of life from our soul. Showing our true selves takes courage, but the reward is the deep joy of being genuinely seen. At its heart, Taboe is one big family—dancing, laughing, and sharing the journey together.

The Space We Create

We create a space where you can feel at ease, connected, authentic, and joyful. To make that happen, we carefully design the program with icebreakers, sharing groups, and playful surprises. Our program features special milongas, community gatherings, and meaningful rituals—all while celebrating a wide diversity of teaching and dancing styles.

At the heart of camp are our teachers and helpers. They bring heart, inspiration, and pure joy to everyone. Together with our dancers, we create a ripple effect that starts here in the forest and extends far into the world.

We see it happening every time: we all leave feeling a little more free, happy, and expressive than when we arrived. We hear it often, and it means everything to us: “Because of this camp, I can truly enjoy tango again, and it feels that somehow something changed in my life.” 😊

The story behind the name: Taboe

In the 1990s, the Dutch tango scene became divided by rigid rules about ‘right’ and ‘wrong.’ We named our retreat Taboe—the Dutch word for taboo—to break down those artificial barriers.

For us, challenging taboos means creating space for play, imperfection, and authentic human connection across all styles, roles, and backgrounds. There is no single ‘correct’ way to dance—only different, respectful paths to finding joy together.
